First P-day in Madrid – August 1, 2013

Wow, this week has been incredible. I am loving it here and doing so well. To begin, my district is the best - we are the Amulek district. It is me and Elder Schmidtlein (South Dakota) Elder Giforos (A.F) and Elder Fonseca (P.G.) Hermana Barker (Cali) and Hermana Bangerter (Oregon) Hermana Porter (Cali) and Hermana Crandall (Utah). I know it has only been one week, but we are already so close to each other, and we all get along. Our days are long, but in hindsight they go by so fast! We wake up at 6 30 and shower and get ready. We eat from 7 00 to 8 00 and from 8 00 until 12 00 we have class. We are in class for the bulk of the day, which I love! We study so so much, whether it be gospel principles, language study, or studying for our investigators. It is so cool teaching our investigators! Most of our meetings are in Spanish, which is interesting, but I just need to remember that I have only been here for one week, and that my progress has been significant. Thank goodness Elder Schmidtlein is much better than I! He really helps me out. From 12 00 to 1 00 we have lunch. The food here is.... edible. Ha ha jokes, it is fine. We have had some pretty interesting things, but I am still alive. Each meal has potatoes, bread, and chocolate of some sort. The bread and chocolate here... SO good! The most interesting thing I have tried is sword fish, yeah, sword fish;) From 1 00 until 4 00 we have more lessons, studies, and classes. At 4 00 we have exercise time. Exercise time is so nice!! I love being in class, but it is so nice to get some fresh air and exert some built up energy. Elder Schmidtlein and I are really making a name for our companionship in soccer... haha Naters would love it here! He would show everyone up! This CCM is so cool, because we are able to go anywhere around the surrounding city. Every day we walk about three blocks west to this sweet outdoor soccer stadium. The teachers do work. Hahaha they just laugh at us Americans. From 5 00 until 5 45 we shower and eat dinner. From 6 to 9 30 we are back in the classroom. From 9 30 to 10 30 we have a personal hour which FLIES!
Now, the highlights of the week. On Thursdays, we are able to go do a session at the Temple, which is so beautiful. We have the 9 00 session today which I am looking forward to. Elder Schmidtlein and I were also called as Zone Leaders, which was awesome and humbling. We are trying to do our best everyday. On Thursday, we went to the Park to talk to people. So beautiful, but so scary! I don´t speak Spanish just quite yet, and that was very evident;)
I am loving it here and things are going so well. Whenever I get discouraged, I just look down at the badge on my chest and it is all worth it.
