Well folks, happy Pday! I know I
told you last week, but this was the second half of my comps wisdom teeth
removal. He got his tooth removed this Thursday and that basically sums up the
second half of the week. But we were blessed with a great first half and we
were able to work hard here in our little pueblo. Here is an update on the week
and work.
This past week we were not able to
teach our investigator with all of the complications of our schedule, but we
were able to have great contact with him. We were able to talk within the week
and verify on his reading and also invite him to the branch bbq Saturday
evening. It was such a fun activity with a great turnout! He ended up coming
with quite a few friends. We talked, ate, played ping pong and just enjoyed one
another’s company. Then he came to church yesterday as well! We are really
looking forward to visiting with him tomorrow morning!
Great week with our other
investigator too! On Monday we were able to meet with him and just see how he was
doing. As I have mentioned, he is really facing a lot of problems right now.
Elder Melgarejo had a great idea to talk to one of the members about seeing
what we could do to try to get him some work. As I have also mentioned, right
now is a very hard time financially for many people here. We were able to get
his resumé and we are hoping that Brother Caro can help him with work. We were
also able to visit with him and teach him about the plan of Salvation. What an
incredible lesson. In the middle of the lesson we were able to ask him, "How
does knowing that you have a Father in Heaven that loves you, make you
feel?" all he said to reply was, "Hope". It was such a beautiful
answer coming from a man who three weeks ago told us that he didn’t have hope.
It is so humbling to be a little instrument in sharing this message of hope.
That is what it is. He was also able to come to the BBQ and he invited his
brother! We were able to talk about a lot of things including the Utah Jazz and
"how can I become a missionary like you" –(quote from the brother). We are
looking forward to a cita with him in the capilla tonight at 7!
This week we also had interviews
with President Deere. I sure love him and am so grateful for his service. He is
such an incredible example.
Also this week, we received an
answer to many of our prayers. We received a new branch mission leader! Hermano
Tomas is so excited for his calling and is already doing great things for the
branch.
I could write forever, but I think
I will have to end there for today! Today I was able to watch the Joseph Smith
Prophet of the Restoration video. He said something in the video that really
touched me,
"The building up of Zion is a
cause destined to change the world and bring about the salvation of the human
family... The truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly and independently."
We are seeing that take place all over the world.
I am grateful for this work. I am
grateful for you all!
Elder Farrell
