November 25, 2013 - ¡Happy Dia de Gracias!-Semana 18‏

To start off, I feel like it is only fitting to begin with those things that I am grateful for. I am so grateful for wonderful family and friends who love me so much and are supporting me every step of the way. I am grateful for the message of the Restoration. I am grateful for P day and also everyday in between;) I am grateful for a warm piso and for great food. I am grateful for a great comp that puts up with me. I am grateful for the Spanish language, and for the opportunity to learn. I am grateful for Soccer Saturdays, and for the opportunity to be humble. I am grateful for a watch that is a missionary’s best friend. I am grateful for my chappa (name tag) on my chest that reminds me why I am here, and who I represent. And I am especially grateful for my Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ. Wow, we have so much to give thanks for. As for me and this week, here we go again:

This past week has been incredible. Honestly looking back through my journal for the week, there were SO MANY things that I wanted to write, but there are a few things that I want to focus on. This past week has been a great week of growth. I have really developed a new perspective on trials, and on how grateful I am for them, because through trials, we are able to learn, grow, progress, and most importantly enjoy the good moments. We always need to remember to find joy now.

This past week we have met with new investigators. Just a little back ground about them. They are from Spain and Ecuador. They have known/dated/lived with each other for 6 months now, and have an interesting story. You might wonder how did we find them, and I would reply... of course through our investigator missionary;) We met with them a few times this week and had some great lessons. We began by playing a solid game of uno. It is one thing to learn how to play a game in English, but in Spanish it is a whole lot different, and more interesting! We had a great game, and I didn´t take last place, so that was good. By this time it was dark, and they don´t have lights, so we taught the message of the restoration by candlelight... haha an interesting but great experience. One thing I have really learned from them is how blessed we truly are. They don´t really have anything, nor direction in their lives. It has made me so so grateful for the mission experience, and for the path that lies ahead.

On Saturday we had a mission ward activity named ¨Puertas Abiertas¨ (Open Doors). We opened up the capilla to both members and people investigating the church. It was such a great way to introduce the church to investigators in a more casual manner. We began by playing games, eating food, a skit put on by my district which was a big hit;) I will tell you more about the skit at Christmas. Anyways after, we took everyone on a tour of the church and talked about each of the programs. While we were in the pila bautismal, our investigator told us that she has never been baptized, and would love to be baptized- there is another miracle. We will really work with them this week, we are hoping to invite them to be baptized. This was not only a great experience for our investigators, but also for me. It strengthened my testimony of this church, and all of the great programs within.

Sunday, what a great day! We really are getting really close to the members in our ward, they really are looking out for us and taking great care of us. Funny story, two Elders in our District passed around a sheet for members to feed them, and they maybe had one person sign up, but today after church we had about 6 members come up and set up eating citas with us for this week, so we are set! We have such a great ward. Also another interesting experience, I was able to translate for our Philipino friend for Sunday School and Priesthood. Let me tell you, translating really causes you to focus in on the lessons.. I was really on my toes;)

There is a little update about the pueblo life. Another bit of info, Elder Ellsworth and I are together for another transfer, and so I am very excited for that. I love you all so so much, and hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Much Love,
Elder Farrell
